Imam Hussain (RA): A Legacy of Truth

One of the primary objectives of the Islamic Circle of Ireland is to promote the message of Islam and bring about positive social change by nurturing the intellectual, moral, and personal development of individuals. To achieve this goal, the Islamic Circle of Ireland regularly organizes educational, intellectual, and spiritual programs, including Study Circles. These gatherings provide an effective platform for mutual consultation, collective learning, intellectual discussion, and the exchange of ideas.

As part of this ongoing initiative, a Study Circle was held on 28 June 2026, in connection with the month of Muharram, on the topic “The Martyrdom of Imam Hussain (RA) and the Demands of Bearing Witness to the Truth.” The keynote speaker was Mr. Rashid Naseem, a senior leader of Jamaat-e-Islami and former Nazim of Islami Jamiat-e-Talaba Pakistan.

The program commenced with a communal breakfast, attended by a large number of participants from Dublin and the surrounding areas. The gathering provided an excellent opportunity for attendees to meet one another, exchange ideas, and strengthen the bonds of brotherhood and mutual affection.

Participants from different parts of Ireland joined the Study Circle online, while members from Dublin and nearby areas attended in person. The event proved to be highly beneficial from educational, intellectual, and spiritual perspectives, with participants demonstrating great enthusiasm and active engagement throughout the session.

Hazrat Umar ibn Al-Khattab (RA) established an enduring example of justice, integrity, and public service that continues to serve as a guiding light for leaders and societies alike. Likewise, Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA), through his supreme sacrifice at Karbala, demonstrated that every sacrifice can be made for the sake of truth, justice, and the supremacy of Islam, but one must never bow before falsehood or oppression.

The lives of these two great personalities teach us that bearing witness to the truth is not limited to sacrificing one’s life. Rather, it also requires standing firmly for truth under all circumstances, upholding justice, opposing oppression, and placing the pleasure of Allah above all personal interests.

May Allah Almighty grant us the ability to follow in the footsteps of Hazrat Umar Farooq (RA) and Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA), enabling us to uphold justice, remain steadfast, act with sincerity, and stay firm upon the truth. Ameen.
